He Is Defeated!

HE IS DEFEATED!
The devil's defeat was accomplished through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that satan is a powerful and malevolent spiritual being who seeks to destroy God's work in the world and lead people away from God. He is described as the enemy of God and humanity, and he is also called the accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10).
However, the Bible also teaches that God always planned to defeat satan and overcome evil. This plan was revealed through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
When Jesus died on the cross, he took the punishment for the sins of all people, including the sins of those who believe in him. Through his death, Jesus defeated satan's power over sin and death. After his death, Jesus was raised from the dead, and this event demonstrated his power over death and the grave. Through his resurrection, Jesus showed that he had conquered satan's power and that those who believe in him can also have victory over sin and death.
The devil's ultimate defeat will occur at the end of time when he will be cast into the lake of fire and destroyed forever (Revelation 20:10). Until then, he continues to work to deceive and tempt people. Still, those who have faith in Jesus Christ can have confidence that they have already been given victory over him.
Christ's victory over death and sin ultimately triumphed over satan's power and influence, setting humanity free from the bondage of sin and offering the possibility of salvation and eternal life. Here are a few references on how satan is a defeated foe biblically:
COLOSSIANS 2:15
“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them
openly, triumphing over them in it.”
This verse is part of a larger passage in which the apostle Paul is writing to the church in Colossae, addressing concerns and challenges that they were facing in their faith. Paul refers to the victory that Christ won on the cross over the powers and authorities of the world. The "powers and authorities" that Paul refers to are often considered spiritual forces of evil, such as demons, that opposed God's plan of salvation.
By dying on the cross and rising again, Christ conquered these forces of evil, disarming them and making a public spectacle of them. This victory is seen as a triumph, as Christ overcame even the world's most powerful and seemingly unstoppable forces.
The imagery in this verse suggests that Christ's victory was not only decisive but also public and humiliating to the devil. This would have been a comforting message to the early Christians in Colossae, who were likely facing persecution and oppression from the Roman authorities and the spiritual forces of evil.
Colossians 2:15 is a powerful statement of Christ's victory over evil and the hope and confidence believers can have in His ultimate triumph.
HEBREWS 2:14
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.”
In Hebrews 2:14, the author highlights that Jesus not only shared in the flesh and blood of mankind but also experienced death to break the devil's power. The "power of death" is understood to be the fear and hopelessness that comes with the reality of death, which can hold people in bondage and prevent them from experiencing the fullness of life that God intends for them.
Overall, Hebrews 2:14 is a great reminder of the significance of Jesus' humanity and his victory over the powers of evil. It provides hope and comfort to believers facing life's challenges and struggles. It encourages us to put our faith in the saving power of Jesus Christ.
1 JOHN 3:8
“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
The apostle John discusses the nature of sin and its relationship to the devil. He asserts that those who engage in sinful behavior are of the devil and that the devil has been sinning from the very beginning.
The verse explains that the purpose of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, coming into the world was to destroy the devil's work. The language used here is strong and emphasizes the seriousness of sin and its connection to the devil. It suggests that sin is not just a personal failing but is also tied to the more significant spiritual battle between good and evil.
Overall, 1 John 3:8 reminds us of the importance of living a righteous and holy life and Jesus's victory over sin and evil.
REVELATION 12:10-11
“10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.’”
These verses describe a battle between good and evil and the ultimate triumph of those who have faith in Christ. The devil is depicted as constantly accusing and tempting humans to sin and turn away from God.
The passage goes on to describe how the believers were able to triumph over satan through the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. This suggests they were willing to stand firm in their faith and proclaim it even in the face of persecution and death.
The language used in this passage is highly symbolic and poetic, emphasizing the ultimate victory of God and his people over the forces of evil. We must be steadfast in our faith and trust in the saving power of Jesus Christ, even in the face of hardship and persecution.
